On July 23, 2022, the “Opening Ceremony of the Hyperthermia Center” and “Academic Conference on Tumor Hyperthermia ” were successfully held in Guangzhou and the Guest Speaker was Professor Dr. Robert Gorter (USA and Germany) who participated live during the meeting through a zoom meeting.

The opening ceremony was hosted by Vice President Luo Rongcheng, President Liu Wensheng, Vice President Wang Yang, Vice President Luo Yuhong, Vice President Li Honglin, Assistant President He Wei, Zhou Libo, Executive Director of Orientech, Professor, Xin Xiang, Vice President of School of Medicine, South China University of Technology, and Professor Mark Falkowski, CEO of Pyrexar Medical, USA (participated in the meeting through the Internet), Professor Wang Ruoyu, head of the Hyperthermia Group of the Radiation Oncology Therapy Branch of the Chinese Medical Association (participated in the meeting through the Internet), and other guests attended the ceremony, delivered speeches and completed the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The Hyperthermia Center introduced the first 6th generation BSD hyperthermia system and two WE 2102-1 Dynamic Hyperthermia Systems.
The establishment of the Hyperthermia Center in Jinshazhou Hospital has drawn wide attention from authorities in the field of radiotherapy and hyperthermia. Domestic and foreign experts in the field of oncology have exchanged and discussed frontier issues and shared the latest progress in hyperthermia technology. Meanwhile, Prof. Shen Wenjiang from the Peking University of Medicine, Prof. Tan Li from Liaoning Cancer Hospital, and Prof. Wu Zhibing, Director of Department of Oncology, Zhejiang Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine, also made online comments.
Jinshazhou Hospital has introduced several precision tumor radiotherapy equipments and already has five highly configured tumor radiotherapy linear gas pedals, including the Angkor M6 radioactive wave knife (CyberKnife) radiosurgery robot, the Varian Radiotherapy Superman TrueBeam, the Varian Smart Radiotherapy Halcyon system, and the spiral tomographic radiotherapy system (TOMO). The establishment of the Hyperthermia Center and the introduction of advanced thermotherapy equipment will further enhance the therapeutic effect of radiation therapy for oncology. Jinshazhou Hospital will make every effort to build a comprehensive oncology treatment center with high-end technology and advanced equipment. It is expected that more tumor treatment equipment, such as the Yttrium 90 microsphere therapy system and artificial intelligence-driven self-adaptive radiotherapy technology – Ethos, will be introduced one after another. More advanced tumor treatment equipment will be settled in Jinshazhou Hospital. It will bring help to patients in Guangzhou and the surrounding areas.”
Between 2009 and 2020, Prof. Robert Gorter visited multiple times circa 20 academic centers and teaching hospitals throughout China and lectured and advised oncologists and researchers on how to implement various aspects of the Gorter Model.
